78 percent of those asked are satisfied with the way Hungarian police is managing the migration crisis, it is revealed from a representative survey conducted by Nézőpont Intézet during September 19-24, 2015 by asking 1000 people by telephone. By and large, left-wing party sympathizers also consider the performance of the police positive in terms of managing the crisis.
After the atrocities committed at the border at Röszke on September 16 a poll verified that 38 percent of respondents have been fully and 40 percent have been somewhat satisfied with the way police responded to the migration situation. Those somewhat dissatisfied have accounted for an extremely low percentage, amounting to 12 percent of respondents. Within this segment those totally dissatisfied have accounted for only 3 percent of the total. Surpisingly, a majority of left-wing supporters, 65 percent of the MSZP and 77 percent of the DK camp, have spoken positively about the work of the police. In sum, beyond the rejection of illegal immigration and the government’s immigration policies that extend over party lines, there is also national unity regarding the view that the police is doing an outstanding job with respect to the migration issue.
Methodology
The public opinion poll was conducted by telephone between September 19-24, 2015 with a sample of 1000 respondents. This is a representative sample of the population aged 18 years and older, classified by gender, age, region, residential settlement type and schooling completed. In case of a 1000 people sample such as this, the maximum margin of error is 3,2 percent.
